Cool, so that's why a camera will sometimes show a car being a different color.

What a lot of technology in such a simple device.
( I still prefer film, but digital has allowed me to be lazy( note I did not say that digital MADE me lazy-it simply allowed me to be what I already was)) sigh.

If you ever get a chance, take a picture of one of those fancy new IR stove burners or other single frequency devices (sometimes LEDs). They will show a drastically different color than meets the actual eye. In the case of stove burners (not the traditional glowing kind, they have to be electrical coils, not sure of the type) our stove glowed bright red when the burners were on, yet I took a picture of it one day and it came out BLUE!

That's why it is the first thing to look at in digital camera. Type and size of the processor. Next thing would the glass.

Here it is. To the naked eye, these coils (or heating elements, whatever they are) are bright red/orange. Maybe since there was so much IR being a heating element, the camera backed down and filtered out anything below a certain frequency, leaving the blue?

that is funky! maybe the camera couldnt process the IR? really cool effect though

According to the article, it guesses at the color based on adjacent pixels.

I've taken pics of blue flowers, but the camera saw purple, similar deal, I guess.

I wish! It was an empty can, I was heating it up to melt a sound hole in my bass drum head (that sounds so odd but its true)

There are wesbites where you can send your digital camera that will remove the filtering stuff and allow you to take straight IR photos. You need your own filters or it will blow-out the image.
