Basically like putting a resume on the internet, but it doesn't have to be that detailed. It can be helpful for networking or keeping tabs on your competition.

Thanks, PW changed.

There's nothing on my profile that's not readily available or easy to find elsewhere.

More networking than social media. But I'm sure they're harvesting just like FB.

Lots of headhunters and job seekers, too. It's been a pretty handy employment pre-qualifier for us on a couple of occasions thanks to the networking aspect.

I signed in once, but decided not to post information, or even keep reading. I never deleted my account.'

Is this something I should be concerned over? I posted no personal info.

Yep. I connected with a former co-worker who gave me a good job lead.

I already have one, but am always looking for something better since my current employer has the Teamsters breathing down my neck.

I've always been fascinated by how far away from their "trade" that some of the employee unions go. The Teamsters certainly wouldn't be my first guess in your case!

I'd be concerns about spammers getting your email, depending of you used a junk account or not

One of the counselors here (long time employee of 25 years) is a Democratic activist and brought in the union 10 years ago. At that time, the pay/benefits were very good compared to the rest of the "industry". He and another long time employee are the only 2 employees who are still reaping the benefits of union membership.

Counselors make more $ these days becauase insurance companies, the state and counseling centers will soon be mandating master's degrees. This is driving the wages upward. However, the union rep has dropped the ball here because the wage at this location is lower than all the other locations owned by this company (this is the only location with a union). Hehas not been able to negotiate a better wage - not suprising becuase he's lazy. It's almost as if this was his pet project that he long abondoned because he and his colleague are still reaping the bennies.

Without getting into details, those who hired me were very vague about the union. Nothing was covered in the new employee orientation and the union rep here said "oh they were supposed to cover that". Sheeshus, I just quit a good job to come here for a new challenge and they try shove the union down my throat. I mentioned to the union rep that the pay sux. He said I can try and negotiate a better wage (yeah right) or find another job. I just smiled and walked away.

So now I've been interviewing and just had a second interview at a small family owned counseling center that is a mere 2 miles from my house.

So now they have a handful of lazy ass counselors who are difficult to ****-can. I work harder than these old dawgs and end up cleaning up their messes.

I shouldn't have to be subject to one tired, old counselor's politcal ideology.
