I hate Insurance.....

'Dear sir, in an effort to keep our company in Florida providing insurance. We're going to Double your renewal rate... Soooorrrryyyy.....' Yeah......Peachy Peachy.... I hate insurance shopping....

In a break from my 'keep it happy' type posts I decided to post this..They've doubled my insurance from a manageable amount to no way in hell prices... for 2 freakin cars. an old old mercedes (my 87) and a ford ranger... I am a safe driver, The last accident was not my fault and was over 7 years ago... there is no other reason for the rate hike other then 'Well, other companies are pulling out of Florida, and in an effort to maintain a presence in your state we've doubled your insurance to make it worth our while'... I've been with them over 2 years now... now I have to shop again for insurance. I rue this task.......

Don't know your situation, but bad credit can do that to your insurance real quick.

I said right to the lady, I'm sorry, but your doubling my rates is making me switch to other people. I will not pay over 1,000.00 for 6 months of insurance. I will not do it. it's assinine

Insurance is a regulated state industry, so the rate increase would have been approved by your state insurance commissioner office. Give them a call or email.

Luckily, preliminary shopping via the web is easier than ever, so you shouldn't have to use up any gas or shoe leather.

Lucky for me I did a ton of quotes online which led me to questioning it... by switching I'll be saving 4-600.00 depending on the company I choose... I am disappointed in all of this... I really did like the company this was...

Like banks, they are all bastards. Some are slightly less bastardly than others, but they're all bastards in the end.

Our houshold insurances as well as auto have taken heavy premium increases sporatically over the last ten years. Most the time the companies spread out the increases to make it less obvious.

I think we pay almost ten fold more in premiums than thirty years ago. No special cirumstances other than my wife wrote off a couple of cars and strangley enough the premiums for auto did not go up too bad at those times compared to general increases.

They have made it a little harder to aquire a new carrier as any new customer now tends to pay a high initial premium to go to any new carrier. I ran across this a few years ago when thinking of switching our auto insurance carrier. Perhaps just different games for different regions.

The property tax bills came this morning and I went to pay them right away to avoid the rush and lineups. Here it is still so old fashioned that you have to pay at the counties municipal offices. The property taxes have remained fairly constant in the last ten years dollar wise so I expect a hefty increase will materialise in the short term future.

I am so old now that I remember that much per year property tax money being the full cost of several new cars. I should sit down some time and develop all these price increases into some form of profile compared to increased average incomes. I do not know if we are really better or worse off as a result over time.

I suspect far worse off if you were trying to get a family established in a canadian big city area today compared to then. The pressures these younger families there are under must be severe.

I do know the one time we had a morgage many years ago on a personal property The monthly ten year morgage payments were far less than the property tax would be today on that dwelling if we still had it.

Actually property taxes and insurance premiums per year for our personal properties and cars alone are now greater than the average salary was when we purchased our first home.

When I was in my early 20's, I worked at a Print shop in a mini mall or sorts. There was a State Farm Ins. place next to the shop. So I walked in one day and asked for a quote. Surprisingly they were about 1/2 of what I was paying. Sometimes the big boys are cheaper.

I had a similar thing happen about 10 years ago with my home owner's insurance. I don't even remember their name. Anyhow, without notice my home owner's insurance nearly doubled. Since they did not give notice I went else where without notice. I went to Allstate. That was working well. Then I had a $17,000 claim from a hail storm. My agent said that my rates would not go up.....F*cking liar....up about 70%. I left there and have been at Auto Owners for about 4 years now. No claims, but last year my rates did go up a little. My agent called me. She said that my rates were too high and that she would review my policy and see what she could do. Now I have the same coverage, and my rate is just a few dollars more. I certainly appreciate what she did entirely on her own.

Some years ago I had Esurance for my car insurance. No claims, but during that time they started to advertise on TV all the time. I thought to myself "advertising is not cheap..what might happen to my rates" guess what ......they needed money for all of that air time so my rates where higher. I don't trust any insurance company that spends a lot of time on TV advertising. We all know that you are there. I look at Progressive ads and I wonder is this about insurance or a fricking circus show with that nasty crotch Flow as the ring leader.

Anyhow to some degree insurance at times can seem like legalized organized crime.

Thanks. I will check them out . I have Progressive now. I am fairly happy with them- they take my money very well, at least not as much as others. One nice thing about them is perks once you are with them for awhile.
