Very saddened to hear of Bill's passing.

He generously lent his time here as moderator of the diesel forum. His kindness and thoughtfulness to the forum and its participants will surely be missed.

RIP Bill.

Well, that sucks. TXBill seemed a nice guy, we talked a lot about MB's and the Tomball, TX area since he was living near where I grew up (Spring) and lived before moving to Califas (Tomball).

I didn't know he'd been sick for a while, he's in a better place now.

That sucks; TXBill was a nice guy. He helped me a lot when I first joined this forum and got into these cars.

Its a shame hearing about all the members that are passing. Downside of being on a forum for so long.

Anyway, cheers Bill you will be greatly missed!

I met him at an MShop get together at a picnic ground ca. 2002 or so. He was a nice guy. He cooked a gazillion hamburgers for everyone. Gave away drinking water. Drove from a long distance hauling all the stuff necessary to facilitate the event.

In the last year or so, he took great exception to things that I said, and developed an EXTREME distaste for me. In spite of what he and others said, I NEVER had ill feelings toward him personally. I only disapproved of his lifestyle, not HIM. He and many others never believed that, but it is the truth.

RIP Tex! I'm sure he's driving around in a pristine MB diesel as we speak!
Even in a thread about a man's death you use it as an opportunity to express your distaste of the homosexual "lifestyle?"

Precisely. Personally I don't cotton to hypocrisy and hubris, but I can't recall knocking someone unable to defend themselves agin it.

He wrote on his facebook that he was having heart troubles June 1st. It was his sister who posted about his passing. His attitude seemed pretty amazing considering the huge amount, and variety of health issues he was battling.

I don't want this going political in any way, but I hope he took some solace in the President coming out for his cause. Its comforting to know he lived to see a major breakthrough in the discussion of gay rights.

btw, his final facebook post:

Ok, I'm wondering which of my Dr. offices is betting on how many heart attacks i'll have before i finally croak. I had a triple bypass in Dec. 2011. I felt i should be worry-free for a long while without any incidents. Well I've had three mild heart attacks since then, caused by stress. The last one happened while i was in the ER. I had accidentally pulled my dialysis access catheter out of my chest in my sleep. So when I get there the chest pains were immediate and it took everything i had to walk down to the emergency dept. Medicine is a numbers game. A heart transplant can cost as much $500K or more. Those are the customers/patients the hospitals compete for through "leading medicine" promotion. I'm wondering how much longer it will be before they try to pitch me a second bypass surgery. I sure wish they had done them all the first time.

Intolerance is a two way street. Bill showed TOTAL intolerance for me as a person. I only showed intolerance for his lifestyle, not for him personally. As I said in my post, I liked and respected him VERY MUCH except for his dangerous lifestyle.

Had he not engaged in this lifestyle, he might very well still be with us.

Did Bill show intolerance for YOUR "lifestyle"?

What a cruel bunch of things to say about him. For shame.

Tyler, I agree. For a man obviously facing his mortality, his attitude was amazing. Forthright and realistic. An attitude to be commended.

Absolutely. When faced with death, people seem to show what they are or are not made of. When someone faces up to it, this demands respect.
