Right Click has disappeared

Okay, Windows expert, I need some help. The right click feature has disappeared. I'm running Vista. It's been a few days since it last worked. I just did a system restore back to 6/11 and still not worky.

Did something go amiss in the registry?

Interesting enough, right click still works on the touch pad; just not the mouse. Could it be my mouse??? I guess that's the next thing for me to try.

if the touchpad works then the physical button is broken. depending on your model it can be replaced fairly easily. others are molded into the upper bezel

USB (or cordless) mouse plugged in to laptop?

Unplug and plug back in, or change batteries in mouse.

You could go through the Control Panel rigamarole, but letting Windows autodetect the mouse ought to fix any driver issues.

Your computer is ... turning into an Apple! Sell it before it's too late.

I've got right click on my MacBook. Just touch the touchpad with two fingers

Before you dig into the registry, try the easy stuff first (just like any car problem)

Thanks!!!

Okay, guys, thanks for all the help.

Mouse is a USB, very old Microsoft product.

I kind of deduced that the mouse might actually be broken but I can still here it "click" and while I did say "right click", I'm a left handed mouse user and yes, the buttons are flipped, so while "right click" is technically the correct Windows term, it's actually a left click. I knew you all would want a long explaination.

And yes, my iPad 2 (birthday gift from wife & kids) gets more browser use these days than my old laptop......

Thanks!

Thanks

Replaced the mouse and it works!

Thanks, guys. Closing this thread.

EDIT: I guess I'm not closing this thread. That option does not exist anymore under the "Thread Tools".

You can sell the old mouse to a Maccie for double what you bought it for.

That's impossible! He has posted in this thread twice already!
