Maybe that's the answer to all of our landfill problems, natural incineration?

Kids in Hawaii ask this all the time, yet Hawaii still has landfills and contemplates shipping their post consumer waste to Washington, Oregon or even South America.
Volcanoes are not the answer for two reasons . . . toxic emissions and, hard to believe, but true, they're not hot enough. On non-tradewind days, the state is treated to the lovely sulfer infused scent of "Vog" from the active eruption on the island of Hawaii. Presumably, adding waste to the mix isn't going to make it any better.
While molten rock is hot, relative to a pizza or lasagna fresh out of the oven, there are many parts of the lava flow that doesn't crack 900 degress, so incineration of everything isn't guaranteed, so when the lava flows towards the ocean, it could be "chunky" with metals and other waste.
