Gasoline Prices in US Hit Five Month Low

Hey, Thank You Mister President.

or

Are You Kidding Me? It's Going to Wreck the Economy!

Lower Gas Prices: Be Careful What You Wish

But the trade-off for lower oil and gas prices is slow growth and tepid job creation. The U.S. economy expanded by only 1.9 percent in the first quarter and the past three months has only seen an average of 96,000 jobs created each month, well below the number needed to keep pact with new entrants to the workforce.

So sure, it's great to save money when we fill up our cars - economists say the drop in prices could put an extra $110 billion in consumers' wallets. But I'm guessing that most Americans would trade paying an extra quarter at the pumps for an economy that was firing on all cylinders, creating 200,000 jobs a month and prompting employers to hand out raises. You may want to reconsider wishing for lower gas prices back in April.

Jay Leno said last night that the financial experts said that when the economy gets worse, gas gets cheaper. He then said "that means if Obama is reelected gas will be free!"

The President really has little to no control over gas prices.

Huh? Suddenly now higher energy and fuel prices are supposed to be good for the economy? And businesses and consumers having extra money to spend because of lower fuel prices is supposed to be bad for the economy?

How about this for reasons for the economic slowdown the first part of the year - # 1 - the budgetary mess in the EU and waiting to see how that will play out, # 2 - it's an election year, plus the SC decision on healthcare is pending, and businesses are holding fire to see how those two events turn out, and # 3 - for the period quoted, gas and diesel were still hovering at $4/gallon or better, finally drifting back down towards $3/gallon in the past few weeks as the effects of cheaper crude oil work their way thru the distribution system.

How soon the American Public forgets! He SAID that under his plan energy prices would necessarily skyrocket.

Barack Obama Admits: Energy Prices Will Skyrocket Under Cap And Trade - YouTube

At least ONE of his campaign promises is coming true. Sure wish it had been the one where he promised to cut the deficit in half in his first term.

I find that the president gets way more credit than he actually deserves for both good AND bad things that happen in the economy. Our president is an influencer, not a dictator. Granted, he has way more influence than the rest of us, but it's not unlimited.

Now, George Bush was a "decider . . . " I'm a decider, too. Most of the time, though, nobody really gives a $hit what I've decided . . . .

I absolutely agree, but what about making decisions that plunge the US deeper and deeper into debt and spending more and more borrowed money. B.O. and G.W. both did this.

Almost a year ago, in August 2011, Representative Michele Bachmann said that she, as president, could lower gasoline prices below $2 per gallon.

And wasn't Newt promising two-fitty gas as well?

The Oil Gods are in charge. they buy all the legislative influence they need so they can travel in style in corporate jets. I recently read where one oil company employee was cashing out his oil stock so that he could buy each of his two sons a Corvette at a price tag of over $100K each. He already had one so there will now be three Corvettes in the family. Every time you fill up, you are funding his life style.

Mandate from the Oil Gods to the sheeple:

Keep driving: WE NEED THE MONEY
