Daily Commute Length/Time?

I'm staring a new job here in a few weeks and I'll be commuting for as I've not really decided if I want to get an apartment closer or what yet but I was just curious as to everyone daily commutes? And what vehicle you commute in and hows your fuel economy?

My new job is about 1h and 10-15 minutes away from where I currently live..

So about 58 miles one way. 115-120 round trip. When I went up for my initial interview the 190E got 26mpg with A/C on full time.

I am planning on daily driving that 190E or possibly picking up a 190DT and daily driving that.

So, OD, what about you?

Move closer.

The time spent commuting will eventually wear you out.

My commute is ~10 miles, but takes 45 minutes due to traffic.

I am moving closer to work in the next 2 weeks.

Agreed, I did a 120-140 (60-70 each way) mile daily commute last year and it was brutal. Your life becomes work and not much else. You'll find it difficult to even pick up a part never mind find the time to install it.

Now i'm ten minutes from work and absolutely loving it!

To the barn and back. The barn is two acres away. When I worked a regular job, up to a couple of years ago, it was a 5 mile trip, a mile of which was my driveway.

I work from home. My daily commute consists of dragging my ass to the office chair and pushing the power button on my laptop

If I had to spend that much time in traffic every day I'd go postal on someone.

Currently zero since I am retired.

Before that it was 550 miles one way. I lived just south of Kansas and worked in Houston three days a week.

I drove 55 miles each way for 26 yrs. 1.5hrs the morning and 2 hours each evening.

Was a single parent 12 of those years, arriving late and leaving early struggling to get to daycare before their bell rang and they started charging by the minute half of each week.

Is exhausting after a while and you are screwed whenever an idiot causes an accident; idiots are the one thing we will never run out of.

Work from home now. On Monday, I went to the office for the third time in 2012.

I highly recommend the home thing it if you can pull it off........
