Had a pleasant Surprise Today

A good friend of mine in high school just happened to stop by the shop today, I haven't seen him in over 30 years. It was very cool to catch up on old times.

If anyone here has a old catch up story, please post it in this thread.

Most of my old friends are in prison, foreign countries under assumed names, or compost. The ones still kicking know better than to bother me.

Coincidentally, this is the last night of a small reunion in the Pacific NW. I've enjoyed getting to know a couple of cousins I'd not seen in 35 or more years.

This weekend i will be going to my 45th class reunion. Usually there are a lot of the same folks who show up but usually there will be someone you haven't seen for 45 years too.

The first 35 years or so (we always get up and tell our story) folks worked really hard at trying to look very successful. The last couple of reunions have not been very competitive feeling.

We all just had a good time talking about life.

This one will be the second with significant grandchildren, so competition in that area may be the order of the day.

I went to my 10 year high school reunion a couple years ago, and depressingly, I was the only one there. Not a single other person from my year showed up.

I was wearing a suit and everything, should have gone with my first choice, wife beater and swim trunks. I hung around for about 25 minutes and took an enormous selection of the food laid on, then got the hell out of there.

Thats weird. Who would organize that and then not show up?

hosted by the HS during the homecoming. It was a multi year reunion, 39. 49, 59, 69, 79, 89, 99. I was one of 4 ****heads that actually showed up from all those graduating classes.

Guess it wasnt as bad as the guy from 59 though. None of us spoke to eachother, there was an acute awareness of what a ridiculous position all 4 of us were in, so we busied ourselves stealing food and GTFO of there

My 10 year reunion is this year but I wont be going. I did see a girl in a bar once that I hadnt seen since high school. I hung out with her a few times catching up , then one night I gave her a ride home because her friends ditched her and that caused problems with her boyfriend. I havent seen her since. oops.

Generally, before going to a reunion, make sure the statute of limitations has elapsed . . .

lol, not that I know. I had expected a local guy I knew who went to school with me and runs a deli to show up, but he didn't come. Maybe he spread the word

I wanted to go to my 30th HS reunion, but I couldn't because the wife was very ill and was in the hospital at the time. I was able to get a dvd of the reunion I wished that I could have made it though, because all of the girls was wider than they were tall and all of the guys were bald or gray headed. Here I am with not a gray hair on my head.
