My "new" daily driver...

Daughter's car was getting a repaint and some tranny work, so she borrowed my car (Lexus) at the time.

Wound up in an accident trying to avoid a road crew...she was unharmed (THANK GOD!).

Didn't wreck, but hit the curb HARD on the rear...bent the wheel, subframe and such.

She actually did me a favor...

...car was indestructible, but it was a total "dog" purchase in the first place....lots of stuff needed sorting, and it would have cost me double what I paid for it just to get it nominal.

So I sold the car off to the guy that was fixing the Mustang and bought this:

I haven't taken pictures yet, so these are dealer photos...nevertheless, the pics are accurate. This car is FAR cleaner than the Lexus.

Oh yeah...2001 323ci...136K miles.

Very nice! I've been a fan of small BMW coupes ever since I sat in a new BMW 2002 in a dealer showroom. Unfortunately the $6,500 sticker was too much for me to handle at the time.

So, at the risk of rudeness, what'd it cost you?

Very nice btw

Get some M wheels for it, those wheels are awful.

Looks nice!

I don't like the wheels much either but when buying a used car you have to buy condition and not expect the perfect specification.

Just under $6K.

Ironically, there were TONS of similarly-priced 3-series Bimmers of the 99-02 years for sale in the DFW area that were total DOGS! I think the remote location of this vehicle probably kept some buyers from giving it a closer look...worked in my favor!

And yeah I get it! The chrome pimp rims aren't my favorite either, but I'll live with them for now...at least I know what low-profile wheel/tire combo will work.

As I posted earlier, it will be hard to get the wifey to allow me to justify new wheels/tires to replace an undamaged/unworn set when massive $$$ will be regularly sucked out of the household over to a faraway college financial office!

Check the wheels carefully, with the car in the air. I bet at least half of them are bent. And that means a safety hazard. And that means replacement is justified.

Just don't go with low profile aftermarkets, or they'll be bent also. Find someone with their factory take-offs that wants a few hundred dollars, then add some decent tires, and you'll be in good shape. With rare exceptions, that usually cost more than the factory wheels by a significant margin, aftermarket wheels are crap.
