Diesel Kleen rebate ... and Ted Nugent

Someone posted this rebate offer for $4 off of 80 oz. of Diesel Kleen over on FTE.

I did a Diesel Kleen rebate a year or so ago and was pleased that they actually sent me the rebate, so I checked it out.

... and discovered to my dismay that Power Service is using Ted Nugent as a spokesmodel.

The same Ted Nugent who, earlier this year, compared the Obama administration to coyotes who need to be shot and said, ""If Barack Obama becomes the president in November, again, I will be either be dead or in jail by this time next year."

Doesn't seem like someone with whom a company would want to associate themselves ... but apparently Power Service does.

I think I may look for an alternative. It's too bad; I like(d) Diesel Kleen.

I also wonder if Ted will stick to his promise.

Good for Diesel Kleen. They picked a good spokesman. I expect he has a few miles operating a diesel powered bus and maybe even a truck or two.

Of course for the anti gun, anti liberty crowd, maybe Ted is a bit of a turn off.

Larry, I'm neither anti-gun nor anti-liberty (the closest label you could put on me is Libertarian), but I find Ted Nugent's rhetoric distasteful.

Moreover, I remember when libs expressed similar feelings about George W. Bush ("Impeach! Prosecute as a war criminal!"), conservatives lambasted such rhetoric as being uncalled-for and at the very least, disrespectful to the office of the President, if not the man himself.

My point merely is that it's foolish for a company to pick such a polarizing spokesman. I suppose Power Service is making some assumptions about their clientele, but in my case it's a false assumption.

I am neither anti-gun nor anti-liberty. Ted Nugent is a douchebag.

Edit to add: If Ted Nugent was shilling my favorite whiskey, or campaigning for Democrats, he'd still be a douchebag.

why does it matter. It's a good product and I buy it. I do not care about Ted Nugent or anything the guy says. I buy Diesel Kleen because it works very well.

X2. He's just instantly recognizable. Think of it this way - we wouldn't be seeing the rebate right now if it weren't for his picture on it would we? I'll clip the thing out and go use it on some Kleen. Those tree hugging lefties aren't going to be driving powerstrokes around anyways...

Maybe they can develop a "priuskleen" and put Al Gore on the front

LOL!!!

Not to subvert the thread but I had a Volt merge in front of me doing 15 below the limit. I belted (with windows up), "Use some of those volts!" which elicited a giggle from my wife.

I want a bumper sticker that reads, "Please hypermile behind me." but it does no good on my rear bumper.

You could get a bunch of them and stick them on every Prius, "Smart" car, and Volt you come across. Oh, and Fiat 500s for good measure.

In case nobody noticed, the 70's are over. Ted is not exactly the power he was. If the product is good, anybody banning it because of the spokesperson is a douchebag and a moron.

If it was for anti-gel, I'd take it. OTOH, I didn't buy a Tag Heuer watch when Tiger Woods was the spokesperson even though I like his achievement. After all, what does TW know about watches? Probably as much as Ted knows about fuel supplements.

How did you determine that? Last time I tried it, mileage gain was not really anything significant. Doubtful power is either.

That's the way I feel about spokespersons. Actually I think it is a ridiculous advertising strategy.

I buy products based on the product, it's price, and my needs. I could care less whether it's Ted Nugent, Barack Obama or Jeffrey Dahmer as their spokesman.

No argument there. I like the product and used it several times.
