I'll say one thing about Brian Carlton.

During the time of him being a moderator...
I never had a thread dis-appear.
Also, any infraction's I recieved during that time, were in my book..legit.

I dont know what to say about this new crew, except that I see why a lot of people are leaving/have left.

Jim E excluded.

Who cares? Even with less people, this is a better community than any other Benz board on the net.

People left OD because the same horses kept getting beat to death, by the same people.

The mods have a thankless and unpaid job. I think the topics in OD, not the mods, are the root cause of the current situation.

^ Agreed.

The same politcal sheat get rehashed. It's like a spam-box. The replies are totally predictable and uninteresting.

Mods can't control the topics, users have to. I'd post more automotive stuff, but don't have time anymore. Oh well, life goes. I don't really care, it's only the internets.

BTW: Who left?

Thanks Chil.

The new moderation is far more tolerant than Chris and I were. That's neither good nor bad............just different.

Folks left in the past because the moderation was deemed too rigid because the TOU were actually enforced. Little men ran to the Webmaster complaining about their little infraction. Other little men took their toys and ran off in a fit of pique. The Webmaster capitulated to the little men because selling parts is more important than integrity.

What you see today is a large number of trolls who are free to post on a daily basis who's sole objective is to inflame the political opposition. Sure, you don't need to read those posts, but the aggregate demeans the entire forum. You rarely see the highly knowledgeable and well written folks here anymore. They don't appreciate the predominance of trolls and have chosen not to participate.

A new paradigm.............life goes on.

I like the old way better because I invented it and I enforced it. Now things are different and it no longer goes the way I designed it and enforced it. Therefore it is worse.

I'm a little man who runs away when I don't agree with the paradigm.............and I don't do well attempting to read the other posts for comprehension.

And that's why I originally left this section of the forum. Then I slowly stopped going to the other parts of the forum. Out of habit I still come back to look around once a week or so, but I rarely post anymore.

Wait... that's TWO things...

Agree with BC, it is different... better or worse is subjective and depends on who you are. I'm sure there are many who are happier than a pig in **** because they have free reign to troll freely through these waters now, and there are others who have moved on to less infected waters.

At least it has granted BC the opportunity to fire back on occasion....

I'm sure the current mods are doing the job the way the new regime at Pelican wants it done. I have no issue with them at all, in fact, thanks for accepting such a thankless job.

THREE..he didnt allow troll's to inflame other members..either by failing to close spam e-mail threads...or allowing some little men who belong to the 'Neatboy Club' to run the show.

He stood his ground, and I respect that.

I will always cherish the infractions I got from BC...

I fixed the bulb, got it certified by the police, mail it in, and we move on.

Note, that I didn't run to the Police Chief complaining about how the officer shouldn't have given me a ticket because everybody else has bad taillight bulbs too!!

And, I certainly didn't pack my bags and move out of the state because I got a ticket................that would be the height of stupidity.
