need compressor recommendations

i seem to go through one every couple of years. I get the Campbell brand single hotdog. the electric motor just stops running.

I am thinking of getting a pancake next time. Any recommendations?

Basically, I use it for blasting air to clean carb jets and filling an occasional bicycle tire so I don't need anything fancy.

I'm looking for specific brands, either pancake or hotdog style is fine.

Why not fix the one you have instead of buying more Chinese junk? Probably a fuse or a capacitor on the motor.

I hate my pancake compressor. It's as loud as my chainsaw. At least I can't forget about it and leave it on. I'll never buy another. Glad you got yours fixed though.

Buy an old used unit from the '60's or '70's with a real motor and a belt-driven pump. I have a 1967 John Wood 30 gallon vertical with a real Westinghouse pump and a 1 HP motor. It ran 20-40 hours per week for almost 10 years when my father had a commercial photo processing lab. on LI. Naturally, there's still plenty of life left in it. It is also relatively quiet.

Buy whatever Sears has on sale for $300 and you can run any tool. Big capacity tank too.

Yep, belt driven compressors last. Those oil less ones are rubbish.

Its funny, my father has had one that has been "throwing a rod" for the past 25 years.

Still runs.. Loud as hell

Unless you have to carry it....

The twin tank wheelbarrow belt drive Emglo rocks the house, but the little cheapo Porter Cable pancake has been getting tossed in the truck for years.;)
