My Mercedes caused a personal health problem.

Its really not as bad as it may sound .A drop of trannie fluid blopped right down my ear and I rinsed it out as best I could immediately after.Know Ive got what appears to be an ear wax build up in that same ear, anyone ever had their ears de waxed.Something called ear irragation were they stick a tube and turn on a pump to gentely wash out any old ear wax.

I've had my ears dewaxed. The irrigation didn't work even though they tried for about an hour. Took an ear nose and throat guy with some kind of auger. One knee on my head, the other pulling upwards on the auger which was embedded in the wax. Felt like he was pulling my brains out. It worked though.

Just buy an ear bulb syringe for $2 and rinse your ear yourself.

I use one on a regular basis, as my ears are essential to my work.

You can get some ear cleaner at the grocery store that will do the same thing.

Best of luck with it.

Geez.... hope I never run into a sawbones like that...

Ear wax is water soluble and I have never heard of a build up that couldn't be rinsed out with warm water in a matter of minutes.

Just use water. Anything else is a waste of money and could be potentially damaging to the ear.

Someone makes money selling the augers to Ear Nose and Throat guys so there must be a market for removal of impacted ear wax mechanically.

The ear wax removers they sell at drug stores is mostly mineral oil with a little alcohol mixed in ,some call these ear wax movers not removers.I rinse the ear with hydrogen peroxide several times a day to keep it from getting infected and at this point have tried every trick I can come up with and its still a no go .A very bothersome condition to say the least ,may have to get a doc involved after all .

When I saw "personal health problem" I assumed the worst. The ear thing must suck (and good luck) but good thing you didn't shut your ding dong in the door!

When I was 16 I was told I would never hear out of my right ear due to some reason or another. In my mid-twenties I was told the same thing.

When I was 35 I was at an HMO and the Doc there took a look in my ear and then out came the auger tools. It was a real medical situation and after she was finished I could hear again! Weird.

But flushing out your ears is a lot easier. It is just some warm water shot up into your ear and then it comes out since it has nowhere else to go. Messy, but very effective.

The bulb mentioned earlier is really all you need for the situation you are describing.

No doubt. Just that I would never want that kind of treatment on my ears...

First time I ever had an issue, the wax build up blocked the ear canal and hearing in that ear went to about 30% of normal. Went to the doc and he washed it out with a bulb... took more than a dozen tries before it washed out. Almost the size of an acorn...

He was the one who suggested routine ear cleaning and told me to buy a bulb and do it myself, also said to never use anything but warm water. Apparently at the time I had a very bad combination of activities that lead to a greater propensity for issues... was building houses during the day, and mixing bands in a club at night. The high spl environment of the club caused more ear wax production as a buffer against the noise, and the sawdust that is inherent from building would mix with the wax and create a much larger build up in a much shorter time.

I'd had problems with that ear for about 20 years. If it got water in it, I'd have to jump around, shake, hit my head etc to get it out and my hearing back. Then one day, I took a bath, dunked my head underwater and could never get the water out. I lost almost all my hearing on that side and it was disconcerting since I'm a teacher. PCP took over an hour trying to open it up with no success and then I had to wait a week for the ENT appointment. He had it out in 10 minutes. That was probably 6 years ago and the problem has not reoccurred. Don't know what caused the initial problem or why it hasn't happened again. Odd that it was just on one side.

Good information.

Best of luck with the ear problem.
