When I lived in South Florida, Cubanos where a very tasty sandwich of boiled ham, roasted pork, swiss cheese, dill pickle slices, on fine Cuban white bread, pressed and toasted like what is now often refered to as "Panini style", usually with a dash of Mojo Crillo for that authentic citrus bitters seasoning!

Refering to a person of Cuban ancestry as a "Cubano" was taken as derogatory and an insult.

It is interesting your editorializing, Romney "sucks up the the Cubanos" when he holds an event at a lawfully conducted business located in an area populated primarily by Americans and legal immigrants of Cuban descent.

I can only wonder what kind of response would have ensued if any one had dared to post something like "Obama keeping the dream alive via executive order; by exempting law breaker Greaser Wet-backs originating from south of our US/Mexican border who are the largest percentage of illegal aliens who in part make up some of the Mexican Drug Cartel's North American distribution infrastructure, from equal treatment and enforcement under federal law and granting them work permits for a two year interval, is "sucking up" to LaRaza?

Apparently you're unaware that Cubano is the spanish way of saying "Cuban". Why do you suppose your sandwich was called that? It's a Cuban sandwich. In spanish, I'll be darned if I can figure out what you'd call a Cuban other than a Cubano.
Presumably it's thought of as derogatory, if indeed it is, due to the wish by many Cuban descendants to disavow their heritage. Other than the tasty sandwiches and fruity drinks of course. Romney can make cooing sounds to the Cuban Americans, or is it American-Cubans all he wants. They traditionally vote Republican anyhow and are as you point out a tiny portion of the latino vote, which as of this time tomorrow is lost to him.

In 2008 Obama got 67% of the latino vote, I'll bet he gets less this go round, just like he'll get less in every other demographic, even black voters.
