OT/help: Parts request in DC/NoVA area - W123 oil pan
 

Does anyone in DC or NoVA have a W123 (240D, d/k if 300Ds are different) oil pan lying around which they're looking to sell? Cracked mine, not sure if I can get it welded or source a new pan tomorrow!

I have a couple I will let go reasonably.;)

With shipping though a local one makes a lot more sense.

sp I had a 97 SL320 in the shop over the past couple week that looks like someone hit a curb with the oil pan. They had used JB Weld to patch it and it looked like it was holding up good. It will have to be cleaned up good for the JB Weld to work though.

My wife parked a Mitsubishi SUV on a VERY low fire plug a few years ago. I had to have the oil pan welded, then welded again before trying JB Weld, which worked the best. We drove it for a year like that before selling it to someone else.

I'll tell you what works amazingly well on such leaks. A product that comes in a CheezWhiz type container called "The Right Stuff." You can wipe off the area and use your fingers to force this stuff into the leak, while the pan is empty and it will seal up remarkably well.

Crazy Ray's is close. I think they have five locations in the Washington/Baltimore area. I'm sure they'll have one in one of their yards.

Ok. Inner washer was cracked and drain plug hole was ragged due to some mechanic fixing a stripped drain plug hole prior to my owning the car. Plug started leaking and would NOT tighten.

I drilled the hole out to 18mm, cut off the inner nut, JB welded a steel plate drilled and tapped to 18mm x 1.5 to the inside of the hole. Stuck a big drain plug in there. So far, no leakage, yay!!

I'll probably grab a new pan off feebay or a member here and change it a next oil change. Thanks, all!!
