Are You Ready For Some Football?

I am. Can't wait for the season to start.
I never see any of you post about sports. Is that off limits here, or does no one else care?
Anyway, I'll tell you that I am a REDSKINS fan.
Have been since the days of Sonny and Billy.
They haven't been very good for awhile now, but this is a new year.
And if they suck this year, there's always next year.
My wife is a COLTS fan as she is from Indiana. Her team sucks too.
But it's still football. Cant get enough. Boise st. and Michigan st. tonight.

Let's hear about your teams!

I grew up a diehard Bengals fan, since we lived close to Cincinnati. i don't dare let my neighbors know, since I live in Steeler's Country now.

Began my football watching in second grade, loved the Steelers. (they had the gold and black uniforms...) They went on to win 4 superbowls and everyone was a Steeler fan... (Franco and Terry and Mean Joe, those guys were idols) So, I decided to like the most hated team in all of professional sports... The Oakland Raiders.
Still bleed Silver and Black, although in recent years it seems more like a hemorrhage.

How did your wife like Indy trading Peyton?

If Griffin can post some decent numbers and they can decide to just let Helu run the ball, you could be in for a good season.

She knew it was time for him to go. And getting Andrew Luck has her excited for the future. She already has a Luck jersey.

Helu could be very good, but he has problems with injuries that might keep him off the field. The rookie Morris has me confident that we will be able to run the ball. But our OL isn't very good. So who knows. Griffin might be running too much from necessity.

I know about those Steeler fans. You can't show other colors in Steeler country. Eagles country either.

I liked the Raiders because of Al Davis. Just win baby! Throw the ball.
Not so much anymore.

Yep love football

I would hate to be a chargers fan. The niners starters left after five snaps and the backups kicked chargers first team a$$.

I'd rather watch grass grow. Or eat a lint sandwich. The best thing about big deal football games is they keep the bubbas home off of my favorite fishing spots.

Meh. I'm more excited about dove season opening tomorrow (well, today actually).

Used to get into it somewhat back in grade school and HS, back when Monday Night Football had Howard Cosell and "Dandy Don" Meredith anchoring it - as much for the entertainment factor of listening to those two flap their gums as watching the game.

Just kind of lost track and interest after that. 20 years of spending half my time underwater might have had something to do with that - lousy TV reception down there.

Locally, they've got the Panthers. But other than the first couple of seasons where they shone brightly - well, they've just sucked. I've often referred to them by another name that starts with a "P" as well, a slang term often used to refer to felines.

Sports posts take precious bandwidth away from the 15,000 "your party sucks" political threads.

Pats fan since youth. Coach Fairbanks, John Hannah, Stanley Morgan, Steve Grogan, Craig James. Tony Eason, ugh. Shaefer Stadium.

Life was not easy for a Patriots fan kid through the 80's, even into the 90's (1980 & 1986 being rare glimmers of hope only to crash back to reality). Needless to say, even in CT, many of my friends became Steelers, Dolphins, Raiders or Cowboys fans.

I've been a season ticket holder since '93, just as Parcells and Drew Bledsoe began the transformation (although I haven't been able to get to a game the past few years). Two buddies and I got them after we all got our first FT jobs. Back then it was $490 for the season, now it's $2600.

Lots of great first hand memories. Tailgating with my parents and friends. The "Tuck Rule" game against the Raiders, "snow shower" game against the Dolphins, the Titans playoff game at -15•F, seeing the SB banners unveiled for the first time.

Makes the pain of my childhood fandom well worth it. Thank you Mr. Kraft!

I am envious of the success your team has had over the last 15-20 years.

Redskins were good during the 80's, and I remember how I felt confident they could win anytime they played. Not so much now.

Yeah, politics does take up most of the discussions here.

Good luck with the bird hunt.

I sense a visit to Foxboro.... Buddy ole pal....

Neither of my folks were sports fans, so I didn't inherit a rabid interest in the local teams. That was kind of a bonus in the days of the old Patriot helmets... seems like as soon as they started using that variation of the Nike swoop on their hats, they started winning.

As a Raider fan, I got a lot of mileage outta Jim Plunkett. The skymaster with 3 rings.

The snowblower incident against the Dolphins will always be a part of NFL lore.
