Who watched Monday Night Football?

What do you think was the worst call of the game?

I vote for the pass interference called on Packers cornerback Sam Shields as he was thoroughly mugged by Rice on the last drive of the game.

I only watched the first half. Generally I watch MNF but having stayed up late Sunday night watching the Pats fail to seal the deal, I chose bed over the second half.

The refs were pretty brutal in the Pats-Ravens game but at least they were pretty evenly brutal.

Probably saw it already, but the final call which changed the outcome of the game may have been the worst officiating ever. And that is saying something!!

I think it's more news worthy that the company that employs Micheal Vick is worried about its integrity in lieu of a bad call.

Wait a minute---the replacement refs are exactly what every liberal/Progressive should want!
Give everybody a chance. Judge by intent; not by results. The main purpose of business is to give people jobs--not worry about competence.
Its a perfect illustration of what is wrong with the progressive paradigm.

Um, correct me if I am wrong (as I know jack about sports) but I thought I was reading that the NFL (Reagan) locked out the refs (ATC) and allowed replacement (Sups, refs and military) refs to come in their place.

This seems like it is directly out of the Regan/republican play book. Bust the union at all costs regardless of the consequences. Had there been an accident in 1981, Regans legacy would have been quite different.

The refs currently average about $9,000/game. The hang up is over a pension plan, that the refs want the NFL to fund 100%, of $38,000/yr. per ref. Not too bad for a part-time gig!

Yes, I will correct you, because you are wrong. In fact you already know it--there were no accidents in 1981. The alternate ATC were competent--they got the job done. That you fail to see the difference is not surprising.
Competency---its a good thing.

Another thing you got wrong...

ATC went ON STRIKE, Reagan TOLD THEM to get back to work and barter better or they'd be thumbing their way home with no take-home pay.

Guess what?

They decided they were better than anyone else.

Reagan kicked them out of the way and the world didn't care one bit.

Biting the hand of the one that feeds you does have some consequences.

But, does anyone learn from it?

Re-written history...tastes better with the bull54!t wiped off.

As for the game/refs/and the plausible deniability????

Here's how the "strike" will get finished...

EVERYONE buying NFL crap/garbage...just quit. Don't buy anything w/an NFL "blessing" on it...

EVERYONE BETTING just stop. No money coming into Vegas? Guess which silent minority (SM) will be taking the "red eye" to Goodell's office?

SM: "Hey! Gadell! We's got somet'ing ta' talk about wich' ya'!"

Goodell: "Not about that Packer/Seahawk game?"

SM: "Naw! Not about that! (I'm gonna' choke that sucka'!) We're here to make ya's an offer you definately won't refuse! (If ya's knows what we means!)"

Then amazingly, in the middle of this coming TNF, there's an extended "Official Officials' Time Out" where, at the end of it (Time length to be determined...) a new set of the old refs will be coming out of the locker room at the Giants Stadium and no one knows what, or where, the "replacement refs" went to (probably saying their "Hellos" to Jimmy Hoffa...)

Let the betting begin!!!!

Again!!!

And it should be mentioned that the FAA ordered that airlines cut their scheudles, up to half during peak hours, to allow the substitutes to handle the workload.

In the NFL, that would be like ordering the teams to have fewer players and plays per game, so that the referees could keep up.

No... it's not.

Please try to leave politics out of the football threads.

The calls through the first 3 weeks have been incorrectly made, completely missed (some patently obvious), and improperly applied.

Monday night's game was a perfect example of poor refereeing changing the outcome of the game.

The closest ref to the play called TD. The league replay review official saw no reason to overturn it. The NFL stood behind it's review official. Worst Call? Hardly. Overlooked (or missed) pass interference? Happens all the time.
At least the home team won and the officials got out safely.

Actually, the first sign from a ref was touchback. That was the back judge. Next was the TD call from the side judge... Neither were within 10 seconds of the ball being caught.

I watched the play, there is no way anyone who actually saw it (ref's job, right?) would have called TD. What the side and back judges were doing is anyone's guess...

My friend who knows a lot more about the rules than I said if both players have their hands on a pass at the same time the offense gets the completion.

Although the packer player had what looked to be a better grip the eagles player had his hands on it too from up in the air to the ground.

Touchdown.

I don't see how the normal refs would have gotten it any better.
