Question Saturn 1998 SL2 - Automatic Transmission

Even it is not a MB car, I hope someone can give me a helpful tip in how to get my problem resolved.
This automatic Saturn have a transmission lever stuck in parking and is not moving to any other drive position.
I tried to get it unlocked (changed to drive) to at least drive the car to another location but without any success. This transmission lever will move from park to another position pressing a button at the left side of the lever. Pressing this button will release the lever but it is not working for me. It was working fine before but lately it is not working anymore.
Any help or suggestion will be really appreciated.
Thanks

its in the brake pedal

there is a switch or some mechanism on the brake pedal that releases the gear shifter. its a common issue with these. google it or justanswers.com has mechanics that will walk you through the repair.
