BBC News - Sudan woman faces death for apostasy Seems reasonable. Raised a christian by only parent. Charged with apostasy, sentenced to death. Seems reasonable.

There's no problem with a Muslim man marrying a Christian woman. The problem is with a Muslim woman marrying a Christian man. Which raises the question of why any Christian woman in her right mind would marry a Muslim man, knowing that.

The problem is that Sudan isn't a government so much as a tribal hegemony, if that. Let's fly a drone over and bomb them with nudie pictures. You know what I mean, pictures showing FULL FRONTAL FEMALE ...FACES!!!

Under the laws of Sudan......
The Father of a child determines their religion. Her Father is a Muslim so under their law so is she. The fact that she had limited contact with her Father, if any contact at all, is beside the point. She has declared she is a Christian, but she cannot legally make this claim. Islamic teachers I have spoken to about this say the active principal here is that if you turn away from Islam you have turned away from God. There are a number of ways for society to deal with this and some societies decide you must be killed since if you are living without God then you are already dead. Our Founding Fathers were aware of this type of thinking not just from Islam but from other religions as well and the knowledge of this was one of the forces behind the freedom of religion wording and the later policy of no mixing of church and state. My personal thoughts on the Sudan situation is that I am glad I live in the US.
