Sayonara, Bobby V.!

I knew it was going to be bad. I just didn't know it would have been this bad!

Bobby Valentine Fired By Red Sox

It's too bad the ownership $h!t all over Francona during the process of making him the scapegoat for the beer & chicken (non-)story. I would have loved to have him back.

As a diehard Yankee fan since 1962, I disliked Terry Francona with a passion. I had side-by-side pictures of him and Heinrich Himmler. The pictures I had were much more alike than the ones I posted.

Since Terry is no longer a Red Sux, I find him to be a very extremely knowledgeable, humorous and likeable. I hope he finds a job with a team that is not the Earthly embodiment of Satan.

I hope that the firing of Valentine will gloss over the fact that Boston's problems are higher up so they can suck for years to come.

The way they played in that last series was awful. I figured they threw the series as revenge on Baltimore for knocking them out of post season play last year. Had they won a game or two against the Yankees, the O's might have fared better. But, we can't complain too much--first winning season in years and first post season appearance in 15 years. Getting past Texas in a one game "series" will be the hardest part.

I think that Francona did a good job.

I've been a Yankees fan for only about 3 years less than you have, but I don't get how anyone could dislike Terry Francona. The Sox's run from about 2003 through 2010 or so was marked by a particularly solid set of citizens. They played smart and they played hard. Manny Ramirez was an exception to that rule, but his talent more than made up for his self-centered ways. I found it nauseating the way media fawned over his so-called eccentricity. They'd always say, "That's Manny being Manny." I never found him to be particularly funny. Instead of "Manny being Manny" I thought it was "Manny being an *******."

I was at Camden Yards last Saturday, cheering for the Sox to help the Yankees by beating the O's. Dustin Pedroia came up in the late innings with a chance to get the Sox back even. I enjoyed having him on my side for a change. He's a player and a half.

Camden Yards is a great place to watch a ball game. Its also hard to believe that this ball park ( NOT stadium) that inspired so many newer ball parks is 20 years old. It still looks fresh and inviting.
