Tamon Robinson was caught digging up paving stones at a housing complex in Brooklyn, N.Y., in April, and police started to chase the 23-year-old. When he was struck and killed by the police car during the chase, the front of the vehicle was dented, ABC station WABC-TV reported.
Aside from minor damage to a police car, it would appear nothing of value was lost.

This is far more egregious and further shows the total incompetence of the NYC police department:

Naturally, the police will close ranks and again claim the shooting was justified.

I wish the Feds would step in and takeover this department. Their ongoing callous disregard for the lives of the citizens that they are sworn to protect is legendary.

Now that one is just messed up. I find it interesting that the victim was a National Guardsman and the shooter was named Hassan.

Since the victim was a Guardsman, I bet that the court of public opinion will force the D.A. to do something. As far as NYPD being worse than other departments, I don't see it, and the statistics don't bear it out. I think their screwups are just more under the media eye, and that's a GOOD thing.

In NYC be more afraid of the police. The guy robbing you is only after your wallet and maybe phone, small potato's. But I pissed off cop can cost you tens of thousands in legal fees, or much worse...

I do not know if the legal thing was always almost totally out of hand. There are serious indications it certainly is now though.

The vast majority of police shootings ARE justified, which makes it harder to ferret out the ones that are not.

about right for bureaucracy.

Ive been trying to close a citibank account for a person who died 3 years ago. I've "closed" it at least 5 times now, and every month, a statement arrives with an increasing charge as it debits the deceased persons credit limit to maintain a minimum balance.

NY state is pretty complex when it comes to bureacracy, I once had to gift my own car to myself with the permission of an ex girlfriend who hated me simply to transfer registration to NY state. Stupidness prevails when people are trained to satisfy the letter of the bureaucracy, and don't actually understand the meaning.

No doubt some peon stamped a form like they always do, and the bill went out.
