Stock market behavior around the election?

So, what kind of behavior do we expect form the stock market?

Historically, does it pick up regardless of who's elected?

How about Incumbent vs. new guy? Rep vs. Dem?

I'm not interested in why, just what's expected.

Thanks!

All bets are off this election. Unemployment number of 7.8% is being called into question, and the latest gaffe is releasing 339k unemployment claims with "one large state's" data being incomplete. I'm thinking we may have seen the top for a while. But individual stocks are more important than the market as a whole.

(I own one stock that was about 2x its present value when the DOW was at 10.4k last fall!)
