Best way to sell used MB rims, single/set??

I have an 04 E320 W211.
I was coming up on needing tires when I saw an ad on CL for a set exactly like my rims with 6 month old Michlen Pilots so bought them.

I don't need two sets but kind of wanted to keep one rim so i would have it as a spare instead of the donut.

I also thought others might want a rim for their W211 for the same donutless option.

However, I was told that the set is worth more as a whole.

The tires on them are still good, maybe 5K left so are they worth selling with Toyos mounted?

I will put them in the classified when I figure out what way I want to go so thought I would get some opinions before I did so

Sound off please

Sell as a set of 4, otherwise do them individually (might be able to do set of 2 for those wanting a studded winter setup). Typically that's what people look for in wheel/tire combos, from my experience on other sites but we're a weird bunch here too so maybe others will chime in saying otherwise.

Arrow Spare tire dilemma--help!

My w212 has the "donut" spare tire and the "Sport" AMG package that includes staggered wheels and the lowered AMG suspension.

I was considering buying a new Mercedes Benz "bluetec" diesel until the moment I popped the trunk in the Mercedes Benz showroom of one of them and saw a big silver tank where the spare tire should fit, and was told by the salesman that this was for the "Add-Blu" diesel fuel additive that needed to be filled once a year (at the owner's expense).

So, I ran away from the otherwise excellent new e350 because it had no spare tire; the salesman made a valiant pitch that the tires on the car, (like all BMWs) are called run flats and are so robust that they can never be destroyed.

What BS, *THAT* is, (I think) because in my 47 years of driving I have had LOTS of catastrophic blowouts --- of COURSE a tire can be destroyed.

I would *never* buy any car with no spare tire. Though more and more cars are evidently sold that way...

So my question is would a spare tire tha has a full size tire and wheel FIT inside the (so to speak) "donut hole" OF THE W212?

I have the unfortunate conundrum - if the answer would be yes, to pick *which* of two, the smaller fronts or the larger rears, of the 4 of the staggered wheels and tires would get the same size spare tire--

(I would hate to spend the $$$$ and have to buy a new 2013 e350 just over a matter like this. I really like the car I have and although the new ones have 300hp, mine only has 268hp, the only significant difference between them except a LOT of more money to get into a 2013...).

ANY OPINIONS?

I have not tried it but a guy that has a W211 Diesel said he removed the stuff that makes the donut fit and could get a full size spare in the space.

I do intend to do that this week to see if it works in mine

Depending on their size and fitment, and the answer to my question (above) for THIS 2011 w212 car, that I have,

I might be willing to buy ONE of them that you have, as a true full size spare tire and wheel for cash if they would fit in the hole where my donut spare now resides.

I could not wait

I went out and took the donut out and the regular size rim and wheel fits perfect.

Apparently it was originally intended to have a full size spare. At least in 2004

So, if you install it there,

Then you are golden!!!

If another one would fit in there that matches the front and rear of MY "donut" hole, then will you sell it to me, assuming no spacers are needed and the tire and wheel would fit any corner of my w212 car?

What is the size of your tire and of your wheel?

Maybe I could go to the dealer and test fit one into the hole for the donut to be sure?

In my car the donut with the upper and lower buffers are the same size as the real tired rim but because the donut is hollow in the middle they put a cover that allows for a storage space.

You lose the small storage space under the trunk floor and have to put the rim in outside facing up or remove the cap because of the stem that the donut locks into.
Also, the real rim is not locked down.
Perhaps there was originally a part that tightened down the real rim.

I have no idea what these are worth used with a few scuffs from tire guys not being careful with air guns.
Not even sure if UPS will ship the rim with the wheel, kind of big.

Anyone know the fair value and if they can be shipped UPS (with or without the tire)?

I used to like the idea of a full size spare, until it occured to me that I could typically fit two donuts in the space for one full size if the car was designed for it.

Id just sell all 4 as a set.

That is actually not the case for my car and donut. The one I have is much bigger than the spares I see on other vehicles.
It is 155/70 on a 17" rim and there is no way one could fit two in the space provided.
Perhaps there is a smaller donut one could get that would allow two but not the one that came with my W211

I realized each tire is directional and must be mounted either left or right side so to have a spar tire on a rim means one requires 2 spare tires because if a left goes down and you only have a right, well, you get the idea.

another reason just to sell the whole group as a set and keep your eyes open for another single tire maybe in the yards. Plenty of wrecks out there might yield up orphan rims and non directional tires.

Good point.
However;
I can understand why someone might want to buy either one or a R/L pair from me for spares on their W211.
But, why would someone want a complete set unless their entire set was stolen and their car is now on blocks which seems like a long shot.
