WARNING: Real Politic, and political media moral decay

IMO: The major NEWS media lost their credibility and reputation for reporting when Walter Cronkite passed away.

Here is an example of what a journalist - reporter should be...

This is painful, HARSH, foul language, and unfortunately TRUE...

The Newsroom - Opening Scene (Wow!) - YouTube

The Newsroom (U.S. TV series) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

HBO The Newsroom EP9 "Mock Debate" - YouTube

I have no respect for most politicians however:
The constant NEWS media ignorance/violation of ethics and standards, and corruption of the ethics and standards, deserve nothing but contempt.

Every NEWS organization has only its credibility and reputation to rely on.

What you describe started happening many years before Walter passed away - IMO, before Walter even retired as anchor.

Media has become big business - ratings, influence, money, power - and the outlets of the MSM controlled by wealthy powerful people and corporations - who want what they own to reflect THEIR views.

Somewhere along the way the MSM tumbled to the fact that it was far easier to improve their bottom line and protect their paychecks, by abandoning the idealized role of being a check and balance on government and politicians, and simply getting into bed with one side or the other.

Can't think of a single talking head these days that would risk losing their job, by refusing to give their reporting the social/political slant desired by the person/company signing their paycheck.

Another element, when Uncle Walter worked the news desk, networks didn't have to try to fill the air with 24/7 coverage, just a half hour M-F. Before 1964, it was only 15 minutes!

Yes Walter Crankcase was a fair journalist. He was so good, that it wasn't until AFTER his retirement that it became known that he was a strong liberal. He was good enough, with enough integrity, that it was somewhere between difficult and impossible to determine his personal ideologies from his reporting.

As far as I'm concerned, the dishonest MSM in this country is as, if not MORE responsible for the mess we're in than the politicians. HONEST and thorough news reporting would have prevented a lot of the problems we deal with today.

Thats the real problem, at some point in time the MSM gave up on being the govrenment watchdogs and became cheerleaders for their prefered side.

try to seperate the two reporters who broke the story from the actual event. After Watergate, it seems every reporter tried to make their career by breaking that one big story and digging some dirt. That morphed into trying to break that one story and digging some dirt on the politician whose political beliefs are different from yours.

Calm down.

I respect him, there is a huge difference.

Though we only met once, the term "idiot" is wrong.
I disagree with his politics, his intelligence (IQ) has nothing to do with that.
