One of my two stand-by's: Homer Simpson or Shrek. They're easy because I require nothing but face paint and I'm done. Suck the gut in for Shrek, push it out for Homer.
A bunch of us neighborhood families with younger kids go around together (yes, we're one of those families who leave a basket on the porch with a note to "Take one please" and amazingly there's always some left when we get back) while the older kids go together in the opposite direction.
We've been known to bring along a thermos of hot cider and rum or some Hot Toddy and often are offered a beer or two along the way.
We usually end up at my brother's house. He lives on a cul-de-sac in the north end of town near the city and residents come by the van/carload to trick-or-treat in a safe neighborhood. We sit in his front yard around his firepit, drink some beers and smoke some cigars while handing out candy. Our kids, usually hopped up on sugar, chase each other around the yard.
For reference, I live about a mile from him. We used to keep track of the kids (something my mom used to do) and averaged 60-70 before we shut off the light around 8:30. My brother gets 250+.
