Of course I remember the 5th of November,
for I was involved in the plot,
but it struck me in time,
that treason's a crime,
which poor old Guy Fawkes forgot!

Oh no much more sinister - a cartoon figure 1970s / 1980s children's BBC - there was many a deep meaning on Captain Pugwash. Such as

Roger the cabin boy
Seaman stains

etc etc etc

Or not

There is a persistent urban legend, repeated by the now defunct UK newspaper the Sunday Correspondent, that ascribes sexually suggestive names – such as Master Bates, Seaman Staines, and Roger (meaning "have sex with") the Cabin Boy – to Captain Pugwash's characters, and indicating that the captain's name was a slang Australian term for oral sex. John Ryan successfully sued both the Sunday Correspondent and The Guardian newspapers in 1991 for printing this legend as fact.[2]

We used to let of fireworks back in SA when I was a kid, it being an ex English colony an all. Of course there was a large Hindu population there as well so they would do "Diwali" at about the same time. Sort of a double whammy.
