They should name the most bad ass new carrier in the fleet Enterprise, instead of after lame politicians no one really likes. Like the new George Bush where every time you say its name you have to add the caveat that its named after the father and not the kid.

CV-6 was also a very busy lady, the Big E is the most decorated ship in US Navy history, and the only one to get a British Admiralty pennant.

Would've been appropriate if they'd named the first of the new class of carriers, that's replacing the Nimitz class, the Enterprise - then we'd have the Enterprise class for the next 40 or so years.

Instead, the first one is going to be named the Gerald Ford.

Oh wonderful, the Ford class. That's really inspiring.

I wonder if the Navy has any idea that they've just laid themselves wide open to a half-century of bad car jokes.

Ferking "USS Ford"? Wholly shyte.

I'm with Hatt on this one. Naming the vessels after presidents, especially live ones, is disgraceful.

Yeah, especially when they had so many good admirals to pick names from.

How about the Halsey class, or anything.

Ford really? Whats next the Obama and Bill Clinton class?

We need to take naming lessions from the Royal Navy, they have the best names.

HMS Furious
HMS Glorious
HMS Vengeance
HMS Invincible
HMS Illustrious

Etc, etc, but we have the Ford, great...
