Plumbing anyone?
What I encountered after cutting a 2" cast iron drain pipe in the basement today.

I wonder if ExLax would work on that pipe.

After removing the uneeded section, I ran my 25' hand snake down the remaining pipe, installed the new pipe and poured a gallon of strong drain cleaner down the pipe. While waiting 15 minutes for the cleaner to do it's work, I boiled 3 gallons of hot water and then poured it down the pipe as a chaser. I went to the basement to listen. In about 5 minutes I heard a mighty belch and the rush of liquified pipe crap speeding towards the treatment plant. I then ran hot water down the pipe for about 15 minutes.

I would check the rest of the pipe quite closely. I have seen this before, and buildup like that rots the pipe.
Best to replace that entire run with PVC.
