Boehner Exclusive: Raising Tax Rates 'Unacceptable' but New Revenue on Table - ABC News

Should be interesting to see how this partisan conflict will progress

First Boehner was all compromise and group hug on ObamaCare. It's the law of the land and all that gooshy stuff. He walked it back hours later. Slimy as ever. I am not optimistic. The president is in a strong position. He shouldn't take nearly as much crap off these obstructionists as he took last time. There may be some hope in the fact that these Republicans know their party is in disarray and it's unlikely there'll be a Republican president for at least two more terms. Maybe that will make them a bit more amenable to defining "compromise" as something other than "seeing it OUR way."

Obama is so intent on punishing the rich, just let him do it. Even if you took 100% of the income of the rich it would only represent about $250Billion. That's not enough to do much and it would shut down investment, in other words, no new jobs.

Just let Obama have what he wants and make it CLEAR that it's ALL Obama, instead of making a reidiculous compromise that opens up the inevitable tact for Axelrod to blame it all on the Repubs.

Just giving Obama what he wants would get us over the cliff sooner, which would mean we could get it behind us and dig out of the ashes sooner. Give him what he wants.

Where did you read THAT! I said give Obama his tax hikes. Let him crash it. It's inevitable and will crash before long anyway. Get it over with.

Somehow this country survived the 90s with pre-Monkeyboy-Bush tax levels. Idiotic idea, cutting taxes while involving the US in two Middle Eastern quagmires.

Hmm..... Was the country faced with $16T in debt, massive unemployment and such a massive deficit in those days? I don't think so.

The game today is different. One would hope that the POTUS, whoever he might be, would be able to figure that out and operate accordingly.

And not raising taxes to pay off the debt (or at least keep it from growing) will make things better?

I'm all for higher taxes, and strong restrictions on military spending. Hiding our heads in the sand and hoping for Ben-Shalom to print us out of this mess isn't an answer.

Those nut jobs in California voted to raise taxes to support education. I guess they don't have Grover Norquist to answer to.
