The mechanic who works on my 280SE 4.5, Steve Marx, was quoted in the story.
He's one of a few guys who specializes in restoring these cars. He had about 6 of them in his shop last time I was there. I think he's still president of the gullwing club, as well.

I love those cars, one guy I sail with had a friend who was given one when it was new. He loved the car but his buddy didn't appreciate it, drove it into the ground in 3 years and it was sold for a song probably in about 1960. I wonder if its still out their?
