Walmart Strikers...

Walmart Strikers Prepare For Black Friday Protests Across Country

I don't ever shop at wally world mainly because there's none close-by. However, even if there was one, I doubt I would shop there as I've been reading a lot about how they treat their employees, and it disguists me.

Personally, I hope the strikers succeed and hurt wally where it hurts the most by costing them significant market share.

For no particular reason I can relate to wally world does not turn my crank. So I seldom drop into their local store. Or perhaps it is because of their being one of the first to really exploit chinese merchandise. To me they created the mass model.

The busy store in town is the dollar store. Wallmart is talking about putting a simular section in their stores.

They are just too large an enterprise to treat their employees less than fair. Especially with the markups they manage on much of their merchandise no matter that people think it is cheap. Compared to wallmarts cost it is instead really expensive.

I am pretty certain that they really gouge on quite a lot of items. So the consumer is not really the true benificiary of their so called lower priced chinese merchandise... They are.

I buy direct from china from time to time so I have a pretty good guesstimate of what they might pay. Memory chips they sold for 19.95 years ago cost me .60 cents in singles at the time. Perhaps .45 each if I purchased half a dozen. So what was wallmart paying for them in the quantities they buy? In fact I have to thank wallmart for making me originally consider sourcing some things direct from China. Greed beyond belief because of the publics general non awareness of their costs? It has made wallmart very, very wealthy. The north american population needs a real education in the ways of the current world.

Walmart is the biggest private employer in the USA. If their workforce were unionized it would make a significant difference. Walmart has anti-union 'swat teams' which travel to locations which are thinking of unionization to stop it from happening.

Ah, to live in a country where workers and employers have freedoms to peaceably express their positions. That is a good thing.

Hatterasguy 11-23-2012 06:46 PM

I hope Walmart workers figure out how to unionize. Wouldn't hurt the Waltons to much to give up a few bucks to help their disposable pawns out.

TylerH860 11-23-2012 07:05 PM

That's what I don't get. They're freakin' gazillionares who want to keep control of their company. Wouldn't it make sense raise labor 20-30% to a livable wage rather than risk losing control when your pissed off, underpaid employees unionize? You already have a terrible reputation with how you get your product, why compound it by exploiting the labor?

Plus you'd attract a better quality of employee and give reason to stay.

Go to Sam's, Costco, Lowes, Home Depot, or get an In and Out burger where the pay is a little bit better and you see a completely different crop of workers.

Wal Mart ----- ewwwwwww

I hate that place and would never go there.

Who wants to buy cheap communist chinese trash and mingle with hordes of greedy cheapskate low life customers while you are doing it, just to save ten dollars?

you mean CENTERAL PNEUMATIC not to be confused with "cp " or chicago pneumatic. drill master is hardly something to call brand name.

Beat me to it. Harbor Freight sells Central Pneumatic; a cheap ripoff mockery of Chicago Pneumatic.

I believe both place sell very large brushes, with which you can paint others more quickly...
