What does it cost to transport a car?

Hey all,
I have seen some posts about people shipping cars after buying them. What I would like to know is if there is a ball park number for how much it costs. Like per mile or total amount within a certain number of miles.
Thanks.

Buy me a plane ticket and hotel room plus food and I'll have your car to you in 2 days I know a guy who drives cars across the country for country club members just before the club shuts down for the winter and before it opens back up for the summer. He gets something like $200 plus expenses. Not bad, considering you get to drive brand new SL's and M5 convertibles all day. What a job

I looked into the cost of shipping a car from Seattle to SoCal (about 1000 miles) and the cost was $1200. If you go to Autotrader.com you can find some auto shippers which will give you rate quotes online.

Peronally I decided driving that 1000 miles would be more fun and I could spend the grand on nice hotels/dinner.

I believe that pricing is also dependant on the value and rarity of the car being shipped.

DAS is moving a minivan for me from VA to CA. $825 with no bells or whistles.

Depot to depot is a lot cheaper than door to door.

When we moved from Kansas City MO to Dallas, TX, the moving company put my wife's Jaguar in the same truck for an additional $600...
