I shot one of these at the range today...

Wow...I shot all three rounds, one of each, in progression from smallest to largest. That last one about did me in. It belonged to the guy in the stall next to mine. It's purely business with this thing...

Had a Raging Bull 454 Casull with a longer barrel. Went up to the 10.5 in 500 S&W Mag. Finally, gave that up for the Desert Eagle MK 19 in 50 AE. I had a MK 1 and that was the only gun I ever sold that I regretted. Happy again.

I cannot fathom anyone buying such a gun. It is like trying to drive a top fuel dragster on the street!

yeah, but I can see why it would be popular in bear country. As a last line of defense (not that I ever want a bear that close to me!), it should do the job. But I sure wouldn't want to have to fire it twice the same day.

Tom, if you fished the backwoods of Alaska, I'll bet you would happily carry something like that. Those bears are BIG up there.

I've fired a .44 Mag and it's an experience. I've fired probably tens of thousands of rounds through .45's. Got hooked on them in the Army. I've never been much of a wheel gun fan, although I understand why many folks are. It's all in what you get experienced and comfortable with I think.

I'm old fashioned...I love the sound of a revolver. This thing was a real kick to shoot. I don't think I'd ever own one, but it's on my long list now.

I don't like them as much for hunting. Makes too much noise when you pull the hammer back.

.45 is a low pressure round and not comparable to such a handgun, even with crazy big loads. My 9mm Sig is snappier than my 1911s.
Guns like that are useful for two things. 1) protection against bears and 2) pecker substitutes.

Bears is one thing we have plenty of...hence the reason we have bear season in this state. Since I don't own one, that would also mean that I have a big...oh, nevermind.

You been measuring peckers and correlating them to firearm size? Brave man. How do you do it? Walk up to a gun owner and ask to see their gun? Or do they come to you and say:

This is my pistol (shakes pistol) and this is my gun (grabs crotch)
This is for fight (shakes pistol) and this is for fun (have you grab crotch)

If it is the latter, I don't want to get involved. To each his own though.
