I am not sure if I am more pissed off at the judge or the commissions response.

Judge still gave the perp 6 years. People have been known to get less than that for murder.

When you have a Supreme Court Associate Justice comparing homosexuality to murder, this judge could at least appeal to precedent.

Maybe his honor should be allowed to prove his theory. He can spend some time in the S.H.U at Pelican Bay with some inmates, specifically during shower time.
Afterwards, he can convince Oprah to hold one show out of retirement so he can share his findings.
