I'd like to see the cops start to ticket left lane campers. My commute to work takes about 50% longer than my commute home due to the difference in slow movers clogging up the roads.

You have hypermilers and aggressive drivers and everyone else gets caught in between. Then add hills which some take with cruise control and others take in energy conservation mode (slow to about a stop at the crest and build back speed downhill).

My theory regarding bumper to bumper traffic is as follows:
The road is perfectly capable of handling all the vehicles that want to drive on the road at 45 mph. In fact, the road is MORE capable of handling a heavy volume of vehicles at 45 mph than it is at 10 mph. At 45 mph, a three lane road will move 13,000 cars per hour (with 36' spacing and average car length of 18'). At 10 mph, a three lane road will move 5,800 cars per hour (with 9' spacing and average car length of 18'). So, clearly the road is not the problem. The road would NEVER develop a traffic jam if it were not for the DB's of the world. One DB hits the brakes...........one DB tries to go 65 mph and cuts off another driver...........one small incident while the road is moving............and instantaneously everybody locks them up. Now, you have bumper to bumper traffic that will last until the road traffic drops off substantially as there is no easy way to cure it once it occurs. The fundamental problem with traffic is caused by DB's and it will always be so. |
This much is obvious.
You can tell an idiot from miles away. One lady who was left lane camping and caused at least 30 people stuck behind her to catch multiple red lights was a particular thorn in my side today. My other pet peeve is when people take turns from the middle or far side of a lane and ignore the people behind them (Allowing the flow to be maintained would be nice you inconsiderate pricks :mad: ) |
I found one the other week and I wanted to commit and act of road rage to get them off the road.
I'm in the far left lane trying to catch an exit. Rush hour is coming to a close, bumper to bumper traffic everywhere, but it's moving at 25mph steadily. EXCEPT THE FAR RIGHT LANE. I can't figure out why we're revving up to 25mph, then slamming on the brakes. I try to leave a huge gap to compensate, but keep getting cut off. I finally get up to a point where the exit lane parallels the road and speed up (no one else is taking the exit). A STUPID *%^&$*#ing Toyota Landcruiser is speeding up and then slamming it's brakes on repeatedly. NO ONE is in front of this guy for a 1/4 mile. I was so angry I wanted to take my beautiful DD across the grass and take the moron out, t-bone the sucker and make sure he never does that again.:mad::mad::mad: |
Like the DB's on some of the two lane roads around here...
Poking along at 40 - 45 on a 55 mph two lane. As soon as they see a passing zone coming up, and no opposing traffic, they stomp it up to 60 to keep anyone from passing them. As soon as they're in a no-passing zone again, it's back to being Mr Turtle at 45 mph.:mad::mad::mad: |

Throw every other DB staring at their cellular in to the mx and... we're all screwed.

The interstate hiway system has been turned into commuter hiways and mall parking access. Keep commuters off of the interstate.

Drive less, commuting is a waste of time, personal finances and public resources. And the loss of life and limb. Babies die everyday, far worse than school shootings.
You do realize that road building and maintenance is largely subsidization for the oil companies? |
