Auto scrap yard near Yucaipa, CA

I am going to California in February to pick up a car which I have purchased through an estate. While I'm there, I'll be near the cities of Yucaipa, Redlands, and San Bernadino.

Any tips on local yards having some good Benz parts for W123 and W126 cars would be great. Tips on places to eat and stay would be good, too.

I'd like to oick up some 240D engine parts and W123 body parts.

I am also looking for a complete type1 VW 1600 cc engine from 68-78, if available for another project.

Thanks!

I know there is a very large yard that specializes in Mercedes of all chassis in Sun Valley.

It is about an hours drive from Yucaipa, but worth the drive.

Jim B. posted pics of the place a few days ago.

Don't stay in San Bernardino. The city is in bankruptcy, and has large crime problem related to gang activity.

Yucaipa is a nice town, but nothing to do and probably few hotels.

Redlands is right next door, and is a lovely University town with large neighborhoods of 19th century restored Victorian houses. Great place to stay. Lots of hotels and restaurants.

Agreed, Berdoo is very dangerous, ugly, hot, dirty, and offers you nothing in the way of culture, cuisine or tourist attractions worth mentioning, but it DOES have the highest crime rate in all Southern California, and runs second in all of California after Oakland in Nor Cal (which clocked 151 murders in 2012) ....stay away from Berdoo and Oaktown.

The Aadlen Bros. yard is @ Tuxford and Telfair in Sun Valley.

If you click the link Paul put up with my pictures, the first one, if you look carefully on the entrance wall has the actual street and number that you can put into the GPS. It is tough to find otherwise.

I think the wiki on the place said it was originally the "Adlen Bros" yard but they added the extra "A" to the name so it would show up as the first business you saw in the Yellow Pages of the Los Angeles telephone books.

Definately worth a visit, and there are lots of other cool but smaller yards around to check. I think ALL of that part of Sun Valley is zoned for junkyards;

But there are others around So Cal. especially in the Wilmington/San Pedro/ Long Beach area...some are Aadlen branches I believe.

Yucaipa and San Bernadino aren't far at all from Fontana, which has an excellent yard, it's only foreign imports and they usually have a GREAT selection of our cars. Ecology auto parts 2$ entrance fee and it's off of Citrus Ave if you're on the 10. Sun Valley is near those giant casinos.... Pechanga right? Usually they have pretty awesome buffet's!

I went to a junk yard in Berea KY today looking for a console lid. You would be surprised what you see in those junk cars.
