Cars from Hurricane Sandy
Thousands of Cars Ravaged by Sandy Up for Auction - weather.com
Wonder how many vintage Mercedes are in there? Believe I may have to check their lists... https://www.iaai.com/

A Bugatti is listed. A '1929' is how it is described.
But it look like a kit car that was popular in the 70's. There are also 158 Porsches listed, three Lambos, nine Ferraris. Over 2,000 Mercedes, so this might really be worth a look. |

The oldest Mercedes is a 1977 6.9. It is pretty rough looking.
All the others are a lot of 123's and 107's. One 560 SL 107. When you move into the 90's there are a lot of 300E's. |

Four Royce autos, one a 2007 Phantom that looks like it would buff out OK.
The other three are Silver Shadows/Spurs. |

I would love to find a nice low mileage SD or SDL.
Value on them is low enough that they would easily be totaled without any real damage. All mechanical things SD can be taken apart and cleaned, lubed and put back into service.

MB S500's I saw in Zone A
I spent the 2 weeks after Sandy in Zone A Staten Island and Brooklyn/Queens/LI and saw plenty of MB's flooded.
6 or 7 S500's on Staten Island with water marks up to the mid drivers windows E320/430's by the dozen either submerged or flooded to the windows (5 Towns of LI and Brooklyn Manhattan Beach) M series flooded to the windows. Realize there was RAW SEWAGE in the flood waters as well as Pertoleum/fuel Oil so I would be VERY wary of any Sandy flood vehicle. Most dealer cars were bought by Export Salvage firms and are on their way to South America or Middle East/Africa. Saw this happening as I was doing Structural Inspections for the NYC DOB and for private clents. Lots of Pick Ups, SUV's, etc all being stripped of the intriors and on site drying ovens being used (Semi trailers with 2 or 3 Propane Turbo Jet Heaters thru the sides) and then they reassemble and load onto Leaseway car carriers and truck to Jacksonville/New Orleans for container shipment. Year before last I worked for a dealership that had an ML in inventory that was a Katrina victim. Apparently, they sunk about eight grand into trying to make it sellable and it didn't work. It was still sitting in the back lot not running when I left the place.

Bottom line:
Cars with EITHER type of damage would be in mint condition ONLY on the continent of Atlantis.
