Buyer beware: 15.000 Sandy cars up for auction.

"Thousands of Cars Ravaged by Sandy Up for Auction"

Most likely some good deals for the risk taker out there.

There is a thread already started on this. The cars are at www.iaai.com/ and most of them look rather trashed out.

But there are some that at one time were nice ones. Rolls Royce, Lambos, a bunch of Porsches and over 2,000 Mercedes.

There is one 6.9 that looks terrible, but beyond that are a lot of 123 and 107 cars.

Worth checking out just to see how bad it got.

The real winner, as far as I could find, was an Aston Martin Lagonda.

How would you tell the difference in the performance of its electrical system!

I have seen one of these cars. It belonged to a Billionaire oil man from Fort Worth, Texas.

While the hoi polloi such as myself had to use the Valet parking at an oil themed event Mr. Big Shot got to park right out front where his security guys could keep a watch over his car. But then, when you are picking up the tab for the whole party I guess you can also throw in a few perks for yourself.

During the party everyone who spoke to him was talking about oil, but I asked him what he thought about his Lagonda.

He thought it was great except for the electrical problems.

Apparently even he didn't have enough money to sort all of them out.

One of the Hunt brothers perhaps?

I've never seen a Lagonda. Here in DFW there are so many nice/expensive/exotic cars on the road you see almost everything - for example I've spotted a Fisker about 10 times thus far.

Yeah, there is an Aston Martin DBS on the auction block that I am interested in.

Wish me luck!

Every morning there was a Lagonda parked in my old street in Marina Del Rey where I used to live, I was always amazed it wasn't there when I came home at night and the owner had made it home. It's like playing russian roulette.
