Any Antique Furniture experts here?

I have this table that I am having trouble figuring out what style and age it is. The drawer has dove tailed sides and the drawer has what I think is a cross cut wood bottom any help would be appreciated.

Nothing valuable; I'd date it anytime between 1900 and 1940.

MY Aunt said that the table belonged to her grandmother and she remembers seeing it as a child and she was born in 1923.

Those are hand done dovetails, pre-1900. The huge one piece chunk of wood would also give away its age.

I would place it in the late 1800's. I don't know the style name.

Any idea of the value?

I think it is early as well. I only got taken the once so far on early furniture. It was a repo done in perhaps 1910.

I eventually found the american builders company. I did the extensive search on that item because I became suspicious it appeared earlier yet somehow the proportions where off.

Nothing really lost though as it was a lesson that cost little. Whoever has it today as it was still solid walnut is probably still happy with it. We are fortunate to have a few good pieces that will never leave the family I hope.

Is the table top one board or something glued up?
The drawer face is hand dovetailed- to a secondary lesser wood drawer carcass. The size of the dovetails looks pretty small and hand cut, so someone knew what they were doing. However, the number of dovetails is minimal, so not a lot of work into the drawer.
Given the rough condition of the finish its hard to see what the primary wood is. Question is what is the primary wood species? Can you look under the top and see what kind of wood? How heavy is the table?
What are the rest of the details- how are the legs assembled?
Is the finish cracked and crazed?

I'm gonna say it is pre-1880. Knapp joints came in around 1879 and greatly increased the number of drawers that could be produced in a day over hand cut dovetails like in your drawer. Everybody switched over to them since they increased profits. Knapp joints were only around for about 20 years as they figured out how to do machine cut (uniform) dovetails by 1900. And I agree with leave the finish alone, at least for now.

THAT makes it valuable to YOU. At least it would make it valuable to me. I have several pieces of family heirloom furniture that is decent, but nothing you would go out of your way to find, but since it is in the family, it's priceless to ME. The fact that it has hand cut dove tail drawers, certainly keeps it out of the kindling stack as far as I'm concerned.

It appears to be wood with some sort of finish applied.
