Cops shoot dog(s)

I am a dog lover like you've never seen, and I expect that many of these instances are unnecessary and in those cases, yeah they're pigs. That said, I expect that there could occasionally be a situation where a cop would have no choice.

Cops shot a dog in Commerce City a couple of days ago. Second one in Adams County in a month. Both unjustifiable.

Notice the shootings that happened because they called the police out to solve a "problem". Their reward? The police shot the caller's dog. There is an old saying: "Real Men Handle Their Own Problems - They Don't Call The Police".
The police can inject a type of insanity into any situation which may result in more mayhem. Keep 'em outta your business and your life will go smoother. A friend of mine, ex-military sums it up nicely: "Don't Help Me!!!!!" |

OCC complaint against the SFPD.
I saw one of the Office of Citizens Complaints against the SFPD once when the Judge in San Francisco felony court assigned to read a big stack of them was laughing at one of them.
The complainant stated that the SFPD responded at about 10:30PM one night in Miraloma Park to complaints of a dog barking .. it was the complainant's dog "Bernie" a Doberman I think.. When one of the several SFPD officers approached the dog, it growled at him. The complaint stated that the cops all then went after the dog with their sticks ("batons") and flashlights and beat the dog, and arrested the complainant. Then, the Policemen all stood around joking about the beating the dog and were all singing "How Much Is That Doggie in the Window?"

Police sensitivity training towards dogs seems to be needed badly. There are unfortunatly people attracted to work in law enforcement as well that have real world issues that should exclude them. They really also tend to mess things up for the image of normal well balanced people working in that field.
I found some of the clips and descriptions terrible. Especially the one that had been secured on the end of a pole. He appeared to not represent any real risk even when he was not on the pole. Just trying to avoid strangers as best he could. It represented no risk to anyone when shot. What this type of person thinks like does disturb me. You can also easily inflame a dog by pulling out a weapon. Somehow most dogs seem to know that it is not a good senario. |

Thinking about this thread this morning, I remembered something from a year or two ago.
It was in the news that an elderly man in a small town, had his dog picked up. He and his neighbors said that the dog was never off the mans property, but in this one isolated incident, the dog got away briefly and the dog catcher picked it up. I don't remember the details, but the man went and broke into the animal shelter and took his dog back home. The cops came and arrested him and took the dog outside and shot it on the premises. The man should NOT have broken into the animal shelter, but I thought that shooting the dog as part of the mans punishment was BIG TIME over the line. I was so pi$$ed when I read the story I could hardly see straight.

Larry there is a lot of sickness amoungst people in those positions. Technically they hide behind their uniforms. I honestly feel they tend to pick their victoms.
All I know that if an officer shot one of our two dogs with no provication or any other non existing reason is going to have a problem on his hands that goes well beyond reason. Or what he may have experienced in the past. I consider myself overall a reasonable person but have buit in limit switches. They are hard to trip but really bad things happen if it is managed. Fortunatly they are really very hard to trigger off. Also one has to watch out for any episode being sensationalised to sell papers or for network news. There was no other way I think a couple of the videos presented could have had any other interpretation than what was presented. Peoples pets are just too special to kill without adaquate real reasons. They usually become part of the family for their natual lifespans..Anone not aware of that simple fact or the consequences in disturbing the arangement unless really required just openly stated has issues. By the same token anyone keeping truly dangerous dogs is not all that bright either. |

The Australian Shepherd in the bed is maybe the best dog I ever had. They shoot him, and they better have GOOD reason.
The dog in my lap is my daughters dog that we got stuck with when she went off to college. The wife stuck her in my lap for the picture. The Mutt on the ground is a Lab/Sharpais(sp?) mix that our son dumped on us.

Aussies rock: I have had several come through my rescue. I enjoy Anatolian Shepherds for personal pets and home & livestock guarding. Given their nature, however, a trigger happy cop would likely shoot them because they are very protective. This, I have an issue with, unless I am KNOWN to be an immediate threat to public safety, there is no reason for a police group to invade my property.

The Wisdom of Psychopaths: What Saints, Spies, and Serial Killers Can Teach Us......
Let's not forget that cops are included in this list, Item #7 to be exact. More than a few have been caught beating their spouses. Something happens to their personality when they put on a badge and a gun......and it isn't good.....
The Wisdom of Psychopaths: What Saints, Spies, and Serial Killers Can Teach Us...... "A recent book claims to have pinpointed the top 10 jobs most likely to attract psychopaths one of which hits particularly close to home for us here at TheBlaze. As flagged by last week, psychologist author Kevin Dutton argues in that a number of psychopathic attributes [are] actually more common in business leaders than in so-called disturbed criminals attributes such as superficial charm, egocentricity, persuasiveness, lack of empathy, independence, and focus. Basically, certain fields of work are more likely to attract psychopaths than others. Heres the list of jobs with the highest rates of psychopathy: 1. CEOAnd the lowest rates of psychopathy: 1. Care AideDoes your field fall into either list? Let us know in the comments?" from "The Blaze" __________________ |
