Rusty has drug up

and is no longer selling parts. Good guy that used to do a real good job with the RustyTQ or whatever it was called. He comes on here every now and then.

This guy knew so much about Mercedes that it was almost weird buying parts from him. He seemed to know the exact thing you were talking about and was very good at making intelligent suggestions.

I never felt like I was being sold anything. I was being helped along by someone that knew what he was doing.

I hope he made a million bucks off selling parts.

I hope it was more than a million. That amount would not support a decent retirement.

"drug up" must be a Southern term.

Does this mean he closed his business, went bankrupt, or sold the business to another company?

LOL

He has moved on to greener pastures or in other words sounds like he sold his business and took a job from one of his vendors. I emailed him and inquired but did not hear back.

Awhile back, didn't he have some health issue? There was also some change to the ownership of the "BuyMBParts" website last year.

Drug up is supposed to be an East Texas term for just up and leaving your job with no reason.

It has since been expanded to relate to anyone who has left their current position or retired.

I first heard this term about 50 years ago from an old country boy from down in deep east Texas. When I asked him to explain it he was taken aback since where he came from everyone knew what it meant.

I'm really gonna miss him. He's the only guy I know who you could tell him the year and model for a part and he'd recite the part number from memory....anytime... for almost every part on my cars.

I love that I could call him up, say "Hi, it's XXXXX. Can I get four XXXX for my 84 300D? No rush on shipping." And he'd just go "yep, it's on it's way".

Even when neighborhood kids started stealing my huge boxes of parts he cut me a break and sold me replacement parts for 50% off.

I never actually met him, but such a nice guy.
