Got it out!

My 93 Miata's transmission, that is.

Danggit to all heck, been driving this beastie for... years. ~ 50K miles or so.... without thinking too hard about issues, because, well, Miata, Ed, sick cats, work, etc. etc. etc.

Clutch was beginning to show signs of slipping.... adjust me foot. All good.

Throw out bearing started screaming, on occasion... adjust accordingly, turn up the radio, move on, nothing to see here.

~ 2 weeks ago, occasionally became consistently. Park the yada, wait for snow to clear, and dissect - today.

Rear main seal has clearly been sieve like for some time. CAS seal, likewise. Transmission front seal highly suspect.

Sigh. If I had something other than gravel on which to park little red, I may have noticed this sooner.

Oh well - flywheel out for surfacing Monday, shopping cart full of Miata seals being built tonight. Me driving Katz the Free Man until I get this all sorted out.
