Added a 05 E320 wagon to the fleet
 

Putting the wife in it as needed after I get it sorted. Not sure how we will like it versus the 124 diesels we have been driving for the past 5 years:). I typically don't mess with the gasoline cars but look at picking it up to learn more about them too:).

I wish I was at bike week. I've had off of job 1 for a couple days and rented a stump grinder. I've been steady grinding stumps for the past three days:). Looking alot better around here.

I'll get some pictures up here over the next day or so.

The white one you were trying to sell?

It was the white one I was trying to sell. Seems the vibration issue was caused by the worn engine and transmission mounts that I changed out this afternoon. It is only going to take a little routine maintenance to make this one nice car. It is a pleaure to drive/cruise on the interstate:). Best part is that it was only $4k:). I sure wish it was a diesel but I'm getting used to the gasser. Been 10 years since I've owned a MB gasoline engined car:rolleyes:.

Seems that the transmission was low on fluid causing the transmission to do some weird stuff. Set it to it's proper level and transmission is working as designed. There is a good bit of whining noise coming from front of engine that, based on what I'm reading, is caused by the a/c compressor pulley bearing. Looks like a pretty simple fix. I may fix the car up some and flip it. It is a pleasure to drive.

The lovely Ms engatwork and I went on a 400 mile ride today in the new ride and it is a very nice ride. I did not realize there were more radio stations in the area than the three that I get with the 95 E300 (country, religious and a Spanish station). Car audio had a big step up from 1995 to 2005 didn't it:). Car returned 27+ mpg on two lane blacktop at 65 mph and drives out great. Next on the list is a couple front tires and an alignment.

Unfortunately, one of the front cup holders is broken:(.

Wow, tough to beat that for 4k and a bit of sweat! Looks nice!

Any thoughts from anyone on how to determine whether the whining noise I'm hearing from the front of the engine is from the power steering pump or the a/c compressor bearing. Seems that there may be a shorter belt available that will allow you to bypass the a/c compressor and determine where the noise is coming from. It is exactly like the power steering fluid reservoir is low on fluid type noise but the fluid level is correct. The previous owner did use some power steering fluid with leak seal (versus the CHF11 stuff). I may try changing the fluid out to see what happens. I have read that alot of the time it is the a/c compressor bearing that is making the noise. If that is the case I may run it to failure.

Wife is ready to start using it every day.

Car is coming together and is a pleasure to take a trip in. Wife just got back from the second 1200 mile trip in two weeks. After the first trip the oil level indicator was saying add a qt which I did. She got back from this trip and the indicator is saying oil level is ok. Finally got the dipstick tool and it is indicating 146, car level, engine off and up to temperature. I think the engine is going to clean up real well and will report back if/when I have to add another quart of oil between oil changes. Prior to the first trip she took I had changed the oil and may not have gotten the level set at the upper level of ok.

Cars moved ahead a good bit from 1995 to 2005 didn't they:). It is nice having a car that gets more than two or three radio stations with one of those being religious, one being Mexican and the other country:eek:.

The picture looks like a W210 car. I thought they began in '96. If it IS a '96, be careful what you ask for, you might get it. I had a '96 E300D that I bought new. The induction manifolding was variable length and quite problematic. The M104 wasn't bullet proof, but it was worked out pretty well by that point.

The only way I know to find your noise is to pull the belt and turn every pulley by hand. Idler pulleys seem to be more of a swishy rattling sound. A whining noise would typically be a compressor or steering pump. At least in my experience.

Didn't the first year 210 cars have the M104? If so, you can loosen the alternator, pull out one of the bolts and lean it over enough to get the belt off and back on without fooling with the tensioner.
