Prince Rupert's Drops

Basically a sperm-shaped blob of highly-tempered glass. The head can be hit with a hammer and not shatter. If the tail is even slightly damaged, the thing explodes. Really cool video:

Neat. Thanks for the link. I'd never heard of that phenomenon and I'm sending the link my wife. Maybe she can use it in class with her 7th graders.

I've shot with the phantom camera but only at 1200 Fps, what was the highest frame rate at the time; 130,000 fps mind blowing. I like the how he explains it, even an idiot like me can understand it.

Amazing how fast the reaction occurs. Not sure what the frames per second playback is but I'd guess the head explodes within about a ten-thousandth of a second.

Fantastic! And with all due respect, Jorn. It's explained so that even an idiot like me can understand it.

I suppose it goes without saying that I hadn't seen the SmarterEveryDay guy before. Lots of fascinating videos that make that sciency and mathy stuff easy to understand! I'm now a subscriber.
