Money-pit Sold

The '95 Mitsubishi 3000GT that my daughter stuck me with is gone.

From all indications, it was not a bad car for those wanting such a vehicle. The problem was that it had 263,000 miles and I only knew what happened in the last 4,000. I broke about even on the deal, if you include the expense of trailering it from Edmond, OK to Port Lavaca, TX via San Antonio.

The 3000GT has an interference engine with a long timing belt. The car came with no documentation, so a timing belt replacement was overdue in my book along with the 60,000 mile tune-up. Almost $2000 at a Mitsubishi dealer, $500 plus parts (about $300) at the local indy.

The car had five of the worst traits a car could have in my opinion:

1. Front wheel drive.
2. Automatic transmission, though I can live with one in a Mercedes.
3. More weight than necessary, it weighed almost 3600 pounds.
4. Hard to work on engine. Changing spark plugs is a more than two hour job.
5. Very expensive parts.

The proceeds will put towards Guderian and the MR2.

My 02 clk 320 was a money pit also. I liked my 89 300E the bestest. Is "bestest" even a word?

Yes, FWD lame -- but the AWD versions were cool.

I had one for about 8 years, most reliable car I've ever had. Put almost nothing into it aside from regular maintenance. Spark plugs never took me 2 hours...
