I read about that a while back when I was researching making bio-diesel. IIRC, the first anti-freeze back when was made from glycerin and glycol came in later as it was apparently cheaper. I'd much prefer using a non-toxic variety. On the several occasions when I had a coolant leak in a heater core, and the subsequent sickly sweet smell of anti-freeze, I wondered about what breathing those fumes might entail.

I gave up the idea of making my own bio-diesel when it dawned on me that I'd be paying myself maybe $5 an hour for my work and would have a part of my shop all greased up. Unless I really geared up and made enough to sell a good portion also.

There seem to be some issues with alernate coolants. Perhaps not all but enough of them. I will stick to the conventional ones as they have a better heat or transfer coefficient.

These coolant systems on our old diesels do not have a great reserve cooling capacity to start with. To also compound that they are older now as well..

AMSOIL's coolant is propylene glycol based, contains a proprietary poly organic acid technology. non-toxic, biodegradable, superior cooling properties, high freeze/boiling points, plates the metal, and even seals hairline cracks, while lasting seven years or 250k miles !!

a very very effective product all around....i have used it for over ten years.....formulations naturally always being refined and updated.....great stuff

I looked at The specs and figured if Cummins sold it, it was pretty good
