Not sure what the angle is of the current wave of nonsense replies to Craigslist ads.

For the same product in short order I got two "replies." Both had the same latter paragraph of the ad I had posted - a cut and paste.

The text of one was:

Get at me sometimes today so we can get this rolling at (email adress).

the other was:

(email adress) is where you can reach me so i'll be waiting.

Different addresses but both had strange names: Kierce Gering and Kobler Labarge.

A new twist on "is it still up for sale?"

Clearly they want me to write to their private email address - as opposed to the Craigslist anon encription. What's their racket? Is it just a bot that collects live e-mail addresses and sells them to mailing lists?

Has to be it. I placed a singles ad once - what the heck - and got a "response" in short order - nothing in my ad was mentioned, just a "hey there . . . " and a pic of a sort of attractive young woman with an e-mail address in the pic and the words: "I don't respond to any other emails."

Uh huh.

Yep, just e-mail addy collection. Best policy is to feed the goatfawkers several dozen FAKE e-mail addresses (easy enough if you have the right e-mail client setup) and/or ISP abuse addresses. If everyone did that, their racket would stop being profitable.
