DHS 12 years later...........are they protecting us?
After the 9/11 attack, DHS and TSA were formed to protect us from the bad guys. As many know, it is now a large agency with a lot of $$$$$$ behind it to fight "terrorism". It appears that the cops have become amazingly fast and accurate in apprehending the bad guy(s) in rapid fashion after a terrorism "incident". Why aren't they equally efficient at PREVENTING a terrorist incident in the first place?

One moral already. Two kids, common intelligence, wanting to make a statement, or whatever, succeeded despite homeland security, patriot act, TSA and the whole "war on terror" and all of our rights that were taken. Thousands or millions of lives internationally, freedom of Americans destroyed, trillions of dollars, inconceivable time, money, and burden, to all Americans, FOR NOTHING! What will their answer now be? Escalate what they are already doing even more. |
I know of a guy who flies often with a large block of metal buried in his suit case. Written on the top of the metal block are the words, "Bill of Rights" in large font. When TSA questions him about why he has a metal block in his luggage, he places the metal block in the TSA agent's hands and says, "Oh, go ahead and take the BILL OF RIGHTS". They are not amused..........

Or maybe not... anyway, how do you prevent these kinds of things? |

I mean imagine airport-security BS when you want to go to a car show or see a movie or some other major public event. Cure worse than the disease! You can try doing like France and have soldiers walking around with machine guns in the metro and such, but even then, they had that maghrebin maniac shooting the Jews in Toulouse and other idiots on the wrong side of the Periph flipping everyone's car over and setting it on fire, all the time! (it is like a national sport now...) |

With TSA it might be better if they hired professionals such as retired cops, SS, military ..., etc who have a better idea of what to look for. As it stands now they hire kids with a GED and you get what you pay for. We want safety but are not willing to pay for people who know how to do the job. Perhaps the same could be applied to DHS as well.

Do you really think it's possible to prevent a terrorist attack like this? Even with all the cctv cameras in London they can't stop it, it's a farce.

What are you? Some kind of fascist?? And your friend who flies with a block of metal is an a$$whole. Hope they take him in for a brain scan, he's obviously not fit to take to the air with regular people.... Just because something you have to deal with is wrong, does not give you carte blanche to behave like a douche bag. |
Maybe occasional attacks of that type are simply the price of living in a relatively free society. i.e. you can't stop all crime of that type without resorting to measures which would be overly intrusive. Now's the time to try the little twerp, if convicted, lock him up, throw away the key, and move on.
Looking on the bright side, drunken bus drivers have done more damage. Hope he gets a "room" next to Terry Nichols, so the latter can mock his terroristic ineptitude on a regular basis. (Hell on earth for a terrorist.) |
