Texas Car Wars Foolishness with a 95 S500

Stay up late or set your DVRs for midnight on the Discovery channel. 12am or 11pm central. They are re-airing the episode of Texas Car Wars.

One of the teams buys a non-running 95 S500 for $1700. I only caught the tail end of it so I'll rewatch it later.

So far not so good. Obviously fake staged auctions... Cars are taken apart for no reason other than to look more beat up than it actually is.

"It was worth $85,000 new. If we can get it running its easily worth five grand."

Oh, I wondered why that door was off leaning against the car at an angle. Yeah, that car might have been worth what, $2000 running? the interior did look nice though.

It didn't look too bad. it boiled down to having to have someone come out to diagnose it. They told them that it needed a new throttlebody, @$1200, which they didn't do. They sold it at a loss, I believe.

Another reason not to watch that show....IMO the Discovery car shows are awful.

Junkyard wars was probably one of my favorite shows from the 90s! Small wonder it came out of England though

I enjoy the projects they do on Fast and Loud. The staged theatrics, crude comments about women and beer....not so much.

Same here! I was also a sucker for BattleBots but that wasn't TLC.

So ,junkyard wars ,is it guys waiting at the gate til opening then running to fill their parts bag ,for laughs the yard owner leaves 3 pitbulls roaming the yard .If so Ive got the perfect training ground ,the yard owner loves pitbulls and its a bit un nerving when your under a car and you see a 4 legged pit walk by and smell your leg.If it lifted , leaked ,then moved on I dont think I would react, just a sigh of relief.
